2009...a lot has changed

Wow, since the last time I bothered posting on here A LOT has changed. I got those exam results and, oh yeah, didn't get into my first choice uni :(......Gutted I was but I ended up in Wales. For all of a week that was. I hated it there, clearly living between the mountains and the sea is just not for me, i'm a city girl.
So, i,ve been working since late september in a bar.....which I hate because I have no social life at weekends and over the christmas period. On the upside though, i've got a definite place at Sheffield Uni for September 2010 which i'm over the moon about....although i've still got 8 months left at work (which, by the way, I complain about everyday).
I finally visited London in November and went to see Beyonce at the O2. She was kinda awesome and Kanye West and Jay-Z joined her onstage which was pretty immense.

And we can't forget christmas now.....its 3 days away! It does not feel at all like Christmas, work has taken away any christmas spirit I may have had so right now, I cannot wait for the new year (which I can't celebrate on nye as i'm working.....yes, I complain about that on a regular basis and will continue to until I find another job).

So, now that i've posted out of pure boredom, i'm, gonna go to bed before I have to get up in the morning for another 8hr shift....bah humbug!

Impatience is not a virtue

5 days to go until exam results, so fed up of waiting right now. I just wanna know where i'm gonna be living and studying for the next 3 years of my life already. Anyway, here's some photos of mine i've 'poladroided'.

More news from nowhere..

I haven't posted anything here in a while, i'm now realising how quickly time is flying by at the moment....
It doesn't seem long ago since I finished college and now, its August. That dreaded month for students across the UK nervously awaiting exam results. I remember last year not being too bothered about my results, quite complacent perhaps after my GCSE results the year before. Now, i'm waiting on My A levels, the most important exam results i'll ever have to wait for because those 3 grades will decide my fate for the next 3 years.

There could be a few outcomes from this;
1) I get my 3 B grades and get into my first choice, the University of Sheffield. The one i've had my heart set on for over a year, the one that I love so much that I couldn't see myself studying anywhere else...

2)
I don't get my required grades and either Sheffield accepts me anyway(please do)or, I go to my second choice of Bangor university in Wales. Not ideal at all but at least i'd be studying somewhere..

or 3)
I somehow fail miserably (hopefully not) and go into clearing to find a course that will accept me and, if all else fails...well, I haven't thought that far because I hope I don't have to.

So I guess you could say i'm absolutely terrified at the moment. Not knowing for definate where i'm gonna be living for the next 3 years is scary to say the least and, with only 6 weeks to go until I move out, i'm hoping these next 18 days go pretty quickly. Good news or bad I need to know now to stop me becoming a nervous, nailbiting wreck.

On another, more lighthearted note, I acquired the new Arctic Monkeys' album this week and its a grower...more to come on that :)

"One day we're gonna live in Paris.."

So yesterday I found out i'd won tickets to see Friendly Fires at the Roundhouse in London for the iTunes festival :D
But its next week....I have no money to travel there with and anywhere cheap to stay seems to be booked up already.
I'm soooo annoyed right now, i've been waiting agggeees to go see them and Ed's crazy dancemoves and now it doesn't look likely, plus i'm going away for a break next week.....sometimes life just seems a little unfair :(
Well here's them live just to remind me of what i'm gonna be missing out on..

Arctic Monkeys perform new material..

Since hearing and subsequently downloading 'crying lightning', i've had it on repeat and i've grown to like it more and more over the past few days. When I heard a live version posted on youtube at the beginning of the year however, I wasn't too sure about it so wanted to wait for the studio version before criticising it and I think this is how I feel about both, 'secret door' and 'potion approaching'.

Out of these two, the first is my favourite and although the music itself sounds great - I especially love the nostalgic feel of secret door - I think Alex's vocals seem pretty weak. Obviously he's not the greatest singer around and they're my favourite band so I don't wanna diss, i'm not too keen at the moment.

Roll on 24th August so I can stop being negative about the new stuff ^-^

I ran away with the circus....

A few weeks back I went to see the amazing Take That for the first time at the 55,000 capacity Manchester Old Trafford cricket ground, previously home to concerts by the likes of Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and Foo Fighters .

I've loved Take That since I was little, watching the (somewhat cheesy) videos of their concerts and trying to copy the dance moves, so when they reunited in 2006, I was soooo happy. Since then they've become more of a 'man band' but they never fail to put on a spectacular show and I don't think i've ever seen one as amazing as this.

They arrived on the b-stage in the middle of the crowd, surrounded by balloons to be revealed. The show was complete with a raining stage, a huge mechanical elephant, trapeze artists, unicyclists, 50ft flames rising from the stage, fireworks......by far the best circus show i've ever witnessed!

The giant mechanical elephant carrying Take That to the main stage
The atmosphere was absolutely overwhelming. Hearing 55,000 people singing along to every word, seeing everyone with their hands in the air during the anthem now associated with Take That, 'Never Forget' - it was all an experience i'll never forget...

Now after a month touring the spectacular across the UK, finishing up at the world famous Wembley stadium, Gary, Mark, Jason and Howard should be taking a well earned rest before starting work on their third album since their return and hopefully it won't be too long before I get to see them again, although they're gonna have to pull something truly magnificent out of the bag to top this one.. “My thoughts got rude, as you talked and chewed on the last of your pick and mix…”

Last night I heard Crying Lightning, Arctic Monkeys’ first release from their upcoming third album, ‘Humbug’ to be released on 24th August 2009.

Its rather amazing, they've really grown with their songwriting since the debut :)

Single availiable from iTunes now and physical version released 17th August......enjoy :)
